A fever is one of the most common symptoms of an illness. One could make a claim that the earth is experiencing a sickness, with its temperature reaching abnormal highs. Earth has been diagnosed with a case of global warming, and without action there will be numerous consequences. In 2006, former United States Vice President Al Gore made a worldwide call to action in his documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. Gore states that the earth is in danger, and that we have two options: to be a part of the problem or a part of the solution. Gore believes we can protect our globe from the impending dangers of climate change, but to be successful there needs to be a worldwide effort.
An Inconvenient Truth is Gore’s worldwide call for action. The evidence is reliable, the sources are credible, and the fact is that global warming is happening in the here and now. We, the people, are the cause of this dramatic climate change, but a positive change will only come when we become part of the solution. “It’s our time to rise again to secure our future” (Gore). Gore is calling everyone to get involved in the environmental movement because we all have a vested interest in this earth in which we live.
